MATS Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (MIME) organized the Annual Convocation for PGDM 2018-20 batch on September 25, 2021. The convocation ceremony, which was much delayed on account of the Covid-19, took place offline, creating an occasion for students and their parents to celebrate their academic success.
With dignitaries lighting the lamp, the ceremony began, followed by a prayer seeking the blessings of the Almighty. Dr. N.V.H Krishnan, Registrar - JAIN (Deemed to be University), representing the chairman and board of governors, formally declared the ceremony open and delivered the welcome address. Dr. Krishnan congratulated the new graduates on their success and wished them all the best for their professional journeys ahead. He took the occasion to share the 20 years of glorious journey of the institute right from its inception in 2001. He urged the students to develop gratitude towards their parents, the institute, and society at large. He emphasized the significance of life-long learning, humility, hard work, and practical application of theoretical knowledge. He highlighted the seven core values of MIME; the courage to dream, the thirst for knowledge, the passion to excel, the conviction to break free, the vision to build, the skill to achieve, and the character to inspire.
Dr. H. Muralidharan, Director – MATS Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (MIME), welcomed the guests, dignitaries, and students. Presenting the report on behalf of the institute, Dr. Muralidharan highlighted the salient achievements of the MATS Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (MIME) during the period between 2018 and 2020. He reminded the students to maintain their learning ability to adapt to the rapid changes happening all around. Dr. Muralidharan further advocated the importance of agility and awareness to develop a better approach in uncertain times.
Mr. Pratap Hegde, Founder, Executive Director, and CEO - Telematics4u, was the chief guest for the event. He handed over medals and merit certificates to the achievers of the PGDM 2018-20 batch. Delivering the convocation address, Mr. Hegde urged the students to recognize the direction of trends and forces behind the rapid changes that are taking place in the competitive world. Tracing the trends, he highlighted three broad features viz., the failure of capitalism in tackling the inequalities and senseless exploitation of the environment, the replacement of internal combustion engine-based vehicles with electric motor-based vehicles, and the shift from city-centric economic approaches to eco-centric rural-centric approaches. To respond to these changing paradigms of management, Mr. Hegde emphasized the need to focus on essential ingredients of knowledge, skills, character, and meta-cognition.
Dr. N. V. H. Krishnan conferred the post-graduate diploma certificates to 74 graduating students in person and 38 students in absentia. Dr. H. Muralidharan administered the MATS Graduation Oath. Professor Reji Mephrahe conducted the proceedings of the ceremony in coordination with Dr. Suman Pathak. Dr. Suman Pathak delivered the formal vote of thanks. The function formally concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
